EA leaves its role as publisher of Knockout City which becomes free

Knockout City Velan Studios has announced that it will self-publish the game once Year 2 begins.

The game is also moving to a free-to-play model this spring, which the studio says is the “natural next step” for it to take on publishing responsibilities and work even more closely with the community.

Until the game becomes free, you will still need an EA Account to play, and your data will be treated in accordance with EA’s Privacy and Cookies Policy.

“We have exciting plans for Knockout City, and bringing publishing in-house will allow us to fully realize our vision for the long-term future of this game,” the studio said. “There’s so much to look forward to because this is just the beginning.”

Velan said there’s a lot of work to be done behind the scenes to prepare for free play, and the team is working “everyone on deck” on the change. Because of this, Season 5 will have a little less content than some of the previous seasons.

There won’t be a new Brawl Pass for Season 5, there will be fewer bundles and new cosmetics for the season, and there won’t be a new map or ball. However, this content change is only temporary, and a new Brawl Pass, more cosmetics, and many new features will arrive in Season 6.

New cards and balls will arrive in future seasons.

Next Season is Season 5: Greatest Hits which will be a celebration of the best Knockout City Year 1 had to offer, bringing back Superpowers, Chain Reaction, Basketbrawl, and more. You can also expect new customizations, a new spring special event with exclusive unlockables, a new season of League Play, and plenty of other goodies.

Once Season 5 is over, Knockout City Year 2 will begin and that’s when the game will become free-to-play.

To thank the community, Velan has created a special Season 6 Loyalty Pack especially for those who have already purchased the game prior to the launch of Season 6, which will include exclusive Legendary cosmetics, bonus XP and 2,000 Holobux. .

Since its release a year ago, the game has seen 32 different playlists, nine maps, six special balls, plus Snowbrawl Fight’s snowball, over 1,200 customizations, tons of features and more.
