Editor’s Pen: The Best of Fayetteville just gets better

For 24 years, the Up and coming every week community newspaper proudly showcased the people, businesses and organizations who have invested their time, money and expertise in our community. One of the ways we do this is by publishing our Best of Fayetteville Readers Survey and asking our newspaper readers to identify and ultimately determine who is the best of the best in Fayetteville. They have what makes Fayetteville and Cumberland County unique, enjoyable and livable.

Well, it’s that time of year, and starting with the June 8 edition of Up and coming every week and until July 3, our readers will be able to vote for the best of the best in two ways. They can fill out a ballot that is in the newspaper and give it to Up and coming every weekor they can go online at the Up and coming every week website, www.upandcomingweekly.com. On site, you can register for a free electronic subscription of Up and coming every week and receive your copy weekly on your home or office computer.

By using proven and enforceable voting rules and guidelines, such as one ballot per reader, we have enhanced the honor, integrity and prestige of the Best of Fayetteville designation. This process continues to be a well-respected, well-organized, informal and unscientific inquiry. By monitoring and verifying ballots, eliminating the nomination process and ballot stuffing, our survey has proven to be incredibly accurate and extremely valuable to residents and the businesses and organizations that have earned the honor of to be voted the best.

Without a doubt, this year has been difficult. Businesses continue to operate in full recovery mode. This makes Best of Fayetteville recognition even more relevant and valuable by highlighting those who have managed their businesses despite high gas prices, supply chain shortages, a tough job market, COVID- 19 confusing and rising inflation. Under these circumstances, running a successful business is a real challenge, and success deserves recognition. Your vote is very important to your favorite business or organization. Winners will be recognized and celebrated on September 27 at the Crown Coliseum Complex. The best of the best will come together to celebrate their accomplishments and contributions to our Can-Do community.

Our newspaper has changed tremendously over the past 26 years, especially in the past nine months. However, the Best of Fayetteville reader survey did not. It continues to reflect the best aspects and amenities the Fayetteville community has to offer. Every year we receive thousands of ballots and carefully record the comments and sentiments of our readers. This process lets us know who, what and why our readers like these companies. We introduce these people, businesses and organizations to residents of Fayetteville, Fort Bragg and Cumberland County. Your vote is important! Our readers will determine which is the 2022 Up and coming every week Fayetteville’s best winners are.

For those new to the area and those unfamiliar with the format and guidelines of Best of Fayetteville, this is a sanctioned and proven reading survey. The survey is designed and audited to provide residents, businesses and local organizations with the recognition they deserve for their dedication, expertise, reliability and perseverance in their pursuit of excellence.

And we make it easy to participate. Participants must vote in at least 15 categories to validate a ballot. Since the investigation began more than two decades ago, the Up and coming every week journal has successfully told the stories of our Best of Fayetteville winners. Then we invite the winners to join the Up and coming every week staff and our Best of Fayetteville 2022 sponsors at a very special recognition evening. This begins winners of the Best of Fayetteville 24/7, 365 days of exposure in the Fayetteville/Cumberland County community, and a year-long presence on our official website www.upandcomingweekly.com.
