Mumbai: Mindshare and Bennett Coleman and Company Limited (BCCL) won the Media and Publisher Abby Awards at the Abby 2022 held at the Grand Hyatt, Goa on Thursday.
Mindshare received the Agency of the Year award and BCCL won the Publisher of the Year award on the first day of the fifteenth edition of Goafest.
Meanwhile, Lodestar UM won the Grand Prize for its campaign for the Mumbai Police – ‘The Punishing Signal’.
Goafest 2022 is being held after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid pandemic. This year, a total of 1014 entries for Media Abby from 54 different agencies were accepted. Of these, 356 applications from 25 agencies were selected.
A total of 15 Publisher ABBYs and 87 Media ABBYs were awarded on the first day of the adfest. For ABBY publishers, five gold, three silver and seven bronze medals were awarded. Four candidates received a certificate of merit. For ABBY media, 21 gold, 28 silver and 37 bronze medals were awarded.
This year, for the first time, The Advertising Club has collaborated with The One Show, bringing the ABBY Awards to global standards of recognition.
Media agency Mindshare scooped eight gold medals and won the highest honour, while BCCL won the gold medal for best marketing of a print newspaper/publishing of its brand ‘The Times of India’. and its campaign called “The Trust of India”.
Cheil India won Gold for Best Use of Native or Branded Content for Customer Brand Marketing by a Publisher for its ‘#UncoverTheEpic: Samsung x Nat Geo Traveller’ campaign for Samsung.
FCB Group India won two gold awards for the best launch marketing of a new newspaper/magazine/digital publication title and the best promotion of a CSR/cause related marketing initiative in the traditional space or online – for both the Times of India (TOI) and the Times Out & Proud Classifieds Campaign.
In a first, this year The Advertising Club has collaborated with The One Show, bringing the ABBY Awards to global recognition standards. The event also saw the participation of internationally renowned jury presidents.
“2022 is a landmark year because of the ABBY Awards’ collaboration with The One Show, and it’s a game-changing proposition,” Advertising Club President Partha Sinha said of the ABBY Awards at Goafest 2022. “It gives a platform to a plethora of agencies, allowing them to go more global. We owe it to the industry to bring something world-class, especially when we’re a big world.
“An impressive turnout was observed, surpassing all previous records,” Abby Awards 2022 Board Chairman and Ad Club Vice President Rana Barua said of the ABBYs Awards. “In addition to the agencies that have participated since our inception, we have also seen those that return every year. Overall the numbers are higher this month since we had to pack everything in a month. This year and now, Goafest will be considerably bigger and more extravagant,” added Barua.
