As of Sunday, February 20, the home delivery price of the Valley News will increase. The amount of the increase will depend on your current rate, but the result will be cents per day. The cost of a digital subscription and the price of a copy will not change. This increase is due to higher distribution and material costs. The price for home delivery has not changed since 2019.
Delivery to various parts of our traffic area has been negatively affected by the lack of drivers and staff. We strive to give our readers the delivery service they deserve and pay for and we have let many of you down. We take this responsibility seriously and do everything we can to resolve the issue. The shortage of labor penalizes a certain number of businesses in the Upper Valley. We worked with a company that specializes in identifying people interested in newspaper delivery, offering incentives and constantly advertising. The next step is to explore same-day mail delivery in outlying cities. Many of you are showing your appreciation to the drivers, and we encourage you to continue. Every home delivery subscriber has access to the e-edition, a digital replica of the print edition. However, we understand that some of you only want the printed copy.
Your continued support during these unprecedented times is appreciated by all of us at Valley News.
